These FAQs provide essential information to potential campers and help ensure a smooth and enjoyable camping experience.
What types of camping accommodations do you offer (tent sites, RV hookups, cabins, etc.)?
L’Oasis de l’Éloile is a seasonal campsite for recreational vehicles (RVs) only. The following RVs are accepted on the campground.
- Towable RVs such as Travel Trailers, Fifth-Wheel Trailer, or Toy Haulers
- Park Models

For environmental reasons we do not allow Motorized RVs such as Class A and C motorhomes.

Are pets allowed at the campsite?
Yes. A maximum of two (2) domesticated pets are allowed per lot. Pets must be kept on leash at all times even while on your lot. See the Terms and Conditions for Pets for more information.
Is there a camp store or nearby grocery store?
There are no stores on the campsite however there are two grocery stores nearby.
- Marché de la Place in Wendover – 5.8 km from the campsite.
- Dépanneur Léger in Plantagenet – 6.6 km from the campsite.
Are campfires allowed, and are fire pits provided?
Campfires are allowed as long as no fire bans are in effect. L’Oasis de l’Étoile does not provide fire pits. You may purchase our own fire pits. Campfires must conform to the Township of Alfred and Plantagenet By-Laws.
Do you offer amenities like restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities?
Yes. L’Oasis de l’Étoile offers restrooms, showers and a laundry facility on site attached to the community centre. See Amenities for more information.
Are there any quiet hours or rules regarding noise?
Yes. Quiet hours are 21:00 to 9:00 from Sunday to Wednesday and 23:00 to 10:00 from Thursday to Saturday. No excessive noise will be tolerated between these times.
Also, Sunday is the Lord’s Day. L’Oasis de l’Étoile asks campers to take advantage and be at peace, relax, and avoid doing any type of work (i.e.: construction, renovation, mowing your lawn, painting, etc…)
What activities are available at the campsite or nearby?
Yes. The campsite includes a swimming pool and a playground. It also includes a community center, where campers can gather to indulge in friendly competitions of darts or cards. and camaraderie. See Amenities for more information.

Is the campsite accessible for people with disabilities?
The short answer is No. Not entirely. L’Oasis de l’Étoile does foster an inclusive environment by promoting awareness and sensitivity among staff and fellow campers. And we encourage a culture of respect and understanding for all campers, regardless of their abilities.
Here are some key factors to consider when selecting L’Oasis de l’Étoile as your camping destination.
- Pathways are wide but are composed of packed gravel.
- Lots are on level ground where possible and offer sufficient space for movement. L’Oasis de l’Étoile is not responsible for the accessibility of the lots currently occupied by campers.
- Signage is provided in large fonts and high contrast colors but it is not provided in multiple formats, such as braille and audio.
- The pool includes a step ladder with handrails and wide steps.
We do encourage you to contact us if you have any specific accessibility concerns.
Are there any restrictions on generators or other equipment?
The campsite provides 30 amp power for each lot. A 30-amp circuit uses 120 volts which has about 3,600 watts available for use. You can make use of your microwave, coffee machine, and toaster.
There are no specific restrictions on the use of generators however they are not necessary and can be very noisy. Generators should only be used in case of emergency i.e.: The campsite loses power for an extended period of time.
A generator must always be used outside because of the danger from exhaust and carbon monoxide. Always place it downwind and make sure the fumes do not go directly into other camping units. You will probably need to have a ventilated housing to shield it from rain and help keep the noise disturbance low.
Is the campsite family-friendly or suitable for large groups?
The campsite is family-friendly.
Are there any nearby attractions or points of interest?
Yes. There are a number of attractions or points of interest nearby. See Activities for more information.
Can I bring my own firewood, or is it available for purchase on-site?
It is prohibited to bring your own firewood primarily for environmental reasons. Bringing firewood from one area to another can introduce harmful insects and diseases that can negatively impact the local tree population.
Firewood is available on-site at an additional cost. We ensure the quality of firewood we sell does not pose any danger to the local tree population and ensure the firewood meets specific criteria to minimize the risk of uncontrolled fires for a better and safer camping experience.
For firewood, simply contact a volunteer and they will arrange for a delivery to your lot.
Are there any specific rules regarding fishing or boating in nearby waters?
The Jessup’s Falls Conservation Area features river access for launching small-boats, fishing from the dock or from the outcroppings of rock perfect to cast your line.
Four times a year, Canadian residents can fish in Ontario without buying a fishing licence, these periods are usually in February, May, June and July.
The area is managed by the South Nation Conservation.
Is there access to potable water at the campsite?
No. For safe drinking water, we recommend bringing your own supply of potable water or purchasing bottled water from local groceries stores.

What is the cell phone reception like at the campsite?
Cell phone reception is good although it may depend on your mobile carrier.
Are there designated areas for recycling and waste disposal?
Yes. There is one designated area for recycling and waste disposal a short distance from the lots. A short walking distance from where the lots are located. And can be easily accessed when leaving the campsite.
Can I bring my own grill or cooking equipment?
Yes, you can bring your own BBQ (barbecue grill). Ensure you follow the manufacturer’s instructions for safe use. Here are some safety tips
- Position your grill or cooking equipment at a safe distance from tents, trees, and other flammable objects. This helps prevent accidents and ensures that sparks and heat won’t cause unintended fires.
- Ensure that your BBQ is placed on a stable and level surface. This prevents accidental tipping and ensures even cooking.
- Use appropriate BBQ utensils to handle hot grates and food. Tongs, spatulas, and heat-resistant gloves are essential tools for safe grilling.
- Never leave the BBQ unattended while it’s in use. Stay nearby to monitor the cooking and prevent accidents.
- If using charcoal grills, be sure to use charcoal briquettes only and not burn wood or other materials in the grill. For propane grills, check that your propane tank and connections are in good condition before use.
- If you’re using charcoal, be sure to dispose of charcoal ashes safely. Never dump hot coals on the ground.
